Born in 1957 my passion for photography started at an early age when my father bought me a Polaroid Instant print and I began shooting family outings, and portraits. Whenever the family needed a photographer, they’d call on me because they knew my passion and what I could do with a camera.
As time passed, my hobby grew and I bought my first used Canon AE-1 SLR, single lens reflex with one telephoto lens and the world for me at that time changed. I began photographing horses, airplanes, and animals, while still continuing to be the family photographer. However, while still enjoying photography, career and family put my photography hobby on the back burning only to dabble with it here and there.
For awhile, I tried my hand a videography, only to remain loyal to my still images using the ole 35mm color, and black and white film. Time moved forward and my love for my hobby was placed on the shelf for some time as other interests move to the forefront. Occasionally I would look in my closet at my ole Canon AE-1 and say to myself, I’m going to get you out again soon, but never did.
Fast forward now into a new decade, digital cameras arrived and I became the company photographer for the company I was working for at the time. With technology advancing, so did digital cameras which increased in megapixels that produced amazing images. I, in turn, held off while watching from a distance. In 2015, I decided enough was enough and bought my first DSLR with two kit lenses and that is the rest of the story.
I was back, and in full style rebuilding my gear while advancing my hobby and love for photography like never before. I am now a freelance photographer hired by local people while being a part of a media company that is only going to get better. Sports View America. Believe it!
