BATON ROUGE, La. – The Eastern Kentucky University women’s basketball team will head to the Bayou with a matchup against 2023 National Champion LSU on Monday, Nov. 4 at the famous Pete Maravich Assembly Center.

Tipoff time, tickets, and streaming locations for the game against ESPN’s Way-Too-Early No. 7 LSU will be announced at a later date.  November’s season opener marks the 43rd all-time game for EKU against an Associated Press or Coaches’ Poll Top 25 opponent.

LSU went 31-6 last season with an 18-1 mark at home and 13-3 record against Southeastern Conference foes.  The Lady Tigers were runners-up in the SEC Championship game to South Carolina and ended their season in the NCAA Elite 8 with a 94-87 loss to Caitlin Clark and the No. 1 seeded Iowa Hawkeyes.

In 2023 under the guidance of 3-time AP College Basketball Coach of the Year Kim Mulkey, LSU captured the NCAA National Championship with a historic 34-2 record and 17-0 mark at the PMAC.

Mulkey enters her 25th season of coaching and fourth with LSU in November, she has a 723-118 (.859) overall record and is a 6-time NCAA National Champion as a player or coach.

EKU is coming off one of the most historic seasons in program history, finishing the 2023-24 season with a 20-12 record and advancing to the Atlantic Sun Conference semifinals.  The Colonels earned an at-large bid in the 2024 Women’s National Invitational Tournament (WNIT), the program’s first national postseason tournament since 2013.

EKU returns three starters off last year’s squad in Alice Recanati, Kaitlyn Costner, and Jasmine McGinnis-Taylor while adding eight newcomers via the high school or transfer portal route.

Tuesday’s announcement is the first non-conference opponent released on the 2024-25 schedule.  Fans are encouraged place a $10 deposit on season tickets, or confirming renewals online here. Fans may also contact the EKU Ticket Office via phone at 859-622-2122 with any questions regarding 2024-25 season tickets.
