INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Fever (5-10) defeated the Chicago Sky, 91-83, on Sunday afternoon in the second of four meetings this year. The Fever have now won three consecutive home games and handed the Sky (4-9) its fourth straight loss. Four Fever players scored in double figures and six Fever players shot 50 percent or better from the floor. Indiana compiled a season-high in assists (23), blocked shots (11), field goal percentage (56.5%) and tied a season-high with its second 91-point game in a row.
Fever rookie guard Caitlin Clark recorded her seventh game scoring at least 20 points with a game-high 23 points on 7-of-11 shooting. Clark tied a career-high nine assists, pulled down eight rebounds and added two blocks in the win. Fever center Aliyah Boston shot 9-of-13 from the floor for 19 points and tied a career-high 14 rebounds for her third double-double in a row and fourth of the season. Boston rejected a career-best five blocks to become the third player in WNBA history with at least 15 points, 14 rebounds, five blocks and four assists, per Across The Timeline . Boston and Clark also became the second pair of teammates in WNBA history to each record at least 15 points, eight rebounds and four assists while shooting 60 percent or better from the field in the same game.
Fever guard Kelsey Mitchell and forward NaLyssa Smith recorded 17 and 15 points each. Mitchell added four rebounds and two assists, while Smith pulled down seven rebounds, two assists and two blocks. In every win this season for the Fever, Indiana has had four players each score more than 10 points in the five wins.
Sunday was Fever forward Katie Lou Samuelson’s second game in a row shooting 3-of-4 from 3-point range. Off the bench, Fever guard Lexie Hull added six points.
Sky guard Marina Mabrey led the team in scoring with 22 points, 10 in the third quarter alone, and posted four assists, three rebounds and two steals. Sky guard Chennedy Carter got her first start of the season and followed Mabrey with 18 points and four assists. Sky guard Dana Evans came off the bench and tallied 12 points and three assists.
Chicago rookie forward Angel Reese and center Kamilla Cardoso each posted double-doubles. Reese ended the game with 11 points, 13 rebounds, five assists, two steals and one block. Cardoso pitched in 10 points, 10 rebounds and two assists.
