MOREHEAD, Ky. – Morehead State men’s basketball is striving to continue its successful trend of molding impactful NAIA transfers into standouts at the Division I level. Kade Ruegsegger, a 6-foot-4 wing player from Dover, Ohio, is set to transfer to MSU from Mount Vernon Nazarene (Ohio).

“Kade Ruegsegger is a big-time shooter! The last three seasons he has made a combined 213 threes at 38 percent in just 87 games,” said head coach Jonathan Mattox. “What’s more impressive is Kade shoots it really well on the move. Kade has been a part of a 20-win team and has been a really consistent scorer averaging over 18 points per game in each of the last two seasons. He has a good all-around game and will look to bring his experience from the NAIA level to our program, following in the footsteps of Alex Gross and Riley Minix.”

Ruegsegger earned All-Crossroads League accolades all four seasons he played for the Cougars, starting with All-Freshman in 2020-21 and ending with three consecutive Second-Team All-CL honors.

He upped his scoring output each season, culminating in 18.8 points per game in 2023-24 after averaging 18.4 as a junior in 2022-23. He scored more than 1,400 points his final three years and scored 20+ 16 times in 2023-24.

As mentioned, Ruegsegger was a sharpshooter from long range. He hit 76 triples in 2022-23 and 69 last season in 2023-24. He also connected on 326 free throws and shot 75 percent at the line his final three seasons. Ruegsegger added 252 assists his final three campaigns as well.

Academically, Ruegsegger earned two consecutive CSC Academic All-District awards as well as a pair of Daktronics Scholar-Athlete accolades. He was also a two-time Crossroads League All-Academic Team member.

Prior to his collegiate prowess, Ruegsegger was named to the All-Ohio team while prepping at Dover High School.
