MOREHEAD, Ky. — A two-time Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Year who has her jersey retired in Johnson Arena, Chynna Bozeman has returned to the Morehead State campus and has joined the women’s basketball staff as assistant coach.
Bozeman, who earned her bachelor’s degree from MSU in 2011 and her Master’s Degree from MSU in 2012, has been coaching with Tri-State Pride (AAU Team based out of Huntington, W. Va.) and has been building her own youth basketball training program, Rim Runners Basketball, based in Portsmouth, Ohio.
She was inducted into the MSU Athletic Hall of Fame in 2023.
From Columbus, Ohio, Bozeman still ranks No. 1 in program history in career scoring (2,170 points) and ranks among the top-20 point producers in OVC history.
She was named the 2009-10 and 2010-11 OVC Player of the Year and also still holds MSU career records for steals (251), three-pointers made (377) and attempted (1,096 – which is also the OVC career record). Bozeman ranks in the top 10 in program career history in assists (394), games played (125), field goals made (706) and free throws made (381).
Among season records, Bozeman is the owner of the program record for steals (95 in 2010-11) and three-pointers (121 in 2009-10) and ranks second and third in scoring (662 in 2010-11 and 648 in 2009-10).
She was a four-time OVC Newcomer of the Week honoree in 2007-08 before earning six OVC Player of the Week accolades in her career.
On her senior night On Feb. 12, 2011, MSU officially retired her No. 2 jersey.
