Muhlenberg County vs. North Oldham 3.16.22
Entering the 2nd game of today between Muhlenberg & North Oldham both teams come out strong during the first 8 minutes of play ending the 1st quarter 9-9. We near the end of the half of play and we are still tied 20-20 with 19.1 seconds left before going into the locker room for halftime. Getting ready to enter the 2nd half of play and both teams are looking to see what they will be able to do differently to come out and start to pull away and advance to the Elite 8 Friday night. After 3 quarters of play North Oldham is only 10-28 from the field, that seems like that is something they have struggled with all game long but hoping to improve on this last half. Before the start of the 4th quarter Muhlenberg is up by 4 points against North Oldham, with 4:50 left to play in the game North Oldham has risen and is up by 3 trying to hold on to their lead as time ticks down. We are now at the 2-minute mark here in the quarter of play in our 2nd game of the opening session for the UK Healthcare Boys’ Sweet 16, under a minute to play here both teams are fighting to get ahead and advance to the Elite 8. The buzzer sounds and North Oldham is able to pull off a 4-point win over Muhlenberg County that will allow them to play again here in Rupp Arena Friday morning. During the post-game conference something that stood out was Muhlenberg’s Head Coach’s statement “I just want to thank everyone and also say that I am so proud of these young men today and all season. I think that I can speak for everyone in Muhlenberg County when I say that they have gave it their all this season.” North Oldham will face Lincoln County Friday at 11:00 AM in the Elite 8.
