Big Blue Madness was a great night, not only seeing the players and coaches but getting to see a packed Rupp Arena again. Along with many highly rated recruits such as 2022 commit Skyy Clark and 2023 recruits DJ Wagner, Mackenzie Mgbako, and Reed Sheppard were in attendance.
The night got started with the Kentucky Women’s and Men’s team arriving on Blue Carpet. The women’s team had their intros and got on to the court starting with the 3-point contest Senior Blair Green won over Rhyne Howard. Lastly the women had their scrimmage with not much happening except Rhyne Howard trying to throw down an alley-oop. Following the women we take it to the men’s team intros and the unforgettable Coach Cal speech honoring the late Terrance Clarke saying “He came into the gym with a smile on his face and a spirit about him that rubbed off on anyone he touched.”
As for the festivities, first the electric dunk contest and Jacob Toppin coming away with the victory. Up next was the 3-point contest with Iowa transfer CJ Fredrick taking the honors. The night ended with a scrimmage that included a lot of high flying action. The next Kentucky basketball event is the Blue-White game October 22 (Fri) at 7 P.M. on the SEC Network.
