It was another one of those games that Kentucky fans will say “they had a chance”. The Wildcats were up one with 20 seconds left in the game and found a way to lose 81-80 to the Arkansas Razorbacks. The Cats even had one last chance with 4 seconds left on the clock down just one, but an errand pass gave the Razorbacks the victory without even a last second heave. The game was lost once again by going long stretches without making a field goal. The longest of which lasted nearly five minutes in the second half that buried the Cats too far to dig out.

The bright side for the Wildcat was Brandon Boston’s play. He led all scorers with 17 points while grabbing 7 rebounds and hit four of his five three-point attempts. It was great to see this kind of play from him late in the season.

The Cats next game is Feb. 13th when they will face Auburn in a 1pm tipoff.

Game Summary

The Wildcats jumped out to a 4-0 lead to start the game, but after a couple quick baskets the Razorbacks took a 5-4 lead. The Cats were able to fight their way back and led 12-9 at the first tv timeout. B.J. Boston looked impressive early contributing six of Kentucky’s first 12. He also grabbed three rebounds in the first 5 minutes to lead the team in the category.  The rest of the first half was an evenly fought game that consisted of seven lead changes. Despite leading for over 14 minutes the Cats only scored 6 points over the final 6 minutes of the half gave the Razorbacks a 36-35 lead at the half. Boston led all scorers with 9 and Olivier Sarr led all players with 7 rebounds at the end of the first half.

The second half started as a disaster for the Wildcats they made 5 of their first 13 shots which gave Arkansas a 58 to 49 lead with 12 minutes left in the game.  After finding themselves down 12 the Wildcats clawed their way back to within three with two minutes left in the game. The four-point deficit carried on until a huge three-pointer by B.J. Boston pulled the Cats within one. Arkansas missed one of their free throws and Davion Mintz hit a three on Kentucky’s next possession giving the Cats a one-point lead. A Kentucky foul gave Arkansas the final lead 81-80 and after an errand pass landed in the hands of a Razorback defender the game ended with the Cats still behind.
